The Dark Flood by Deon Meyer
(Hodder & Stoughton £16.99)

‘The Dark Flood’ is the latest in the Griessel and Cupido detective series of South African crime novels by award winning novelist and screen writer, Deon Meyer.
The Dark Flood is as much a novel about two disgraced and demoted detectives investigating a missing persons case and a female estate agent dealing with a world of toxic masculinity as it is about their daily struggles to make relationships work and navigate life. It is a novel about greed. Corporate greed, greed born of desperation, greed for job status, how greed can make good people do bad things. But the backdrop is that of Stellenbosch: the stunningly beautiful wine capital of South Africa, home to millionaires and academics, thousands of bright-eyes students, and a handful of policemen and women trying to cope with it all.
